Why a marae is special to the community

A marae is significant and special to the community and every community around New Zealand. It's the heart of the people
A marae is where families gather and spend time with each other. The main reason
people visit a marae relates to tangihanga. All marae allows people to learn about their
whakapapa and tupuna.

In a marae, families cluster and get into conversations with other families.
Some families play sports and games with each other like monopoly, twister and more.
Others go to the marae to celebrate 21st birthdays, weddings, reunions, anniversaries
and such. As a result, you build a relationship with whanau and you discover a place
where you feel welcome, like you belong.

The most significant thing in a Marae is tangihanga. Tangihanga is a traditional
funeral for maori people when someone has passed away. When the person gets buried
people do a haka when the coffin comes out of the marae so the person that has passed,
remembers his home place and what his Marae is about. When the person gets to the u
rupa/cemetery they do another haka so the person can remember his loved ones.
To sum it up tangihanga is the most important thing to a marae because its about your
loved ones that have passed.

When you enter a marae you see photos and those photos are people that have passed
and that have been in war. A marae is about your tupuna and whakapapa the people
that belong to the marae and the people that have made the land. When your in front
of a marae if you look at the carvings those represent your tupuna and whakapapa.
So in development learning about your whakapapa and tupuna is important to your
culture.

So in conclusion a marae is special to our community because it’s a place where our Maori culture is alive.  It's where families gather and spend time with everyone. It's a place to say goodbye to a loved one.  Lastly, it’s where you can learn about your whakapapa and tupuna and know that you will always belong.

Going to Noumea

Going To Noumea
WALT: Retell a personal event that happened during my holiday.
SC:
  • I will have lots of ideas that connect to the topic.
  • Each idea will be supported by extra information, details or facts
  • that explain my thinking.

“Get Up sleepyhead, we’re going now!” shouted Nan. Rolling over,
I stretch out and yawn.”Yeah, yeah, alright.” I got changed and went into
the car. We zoomed off to Kerikeri airport. When we got there we went to
check in our bags. I was playing with my hands tired and stressed until it was
take off time. I started going to sleep but my Nan shouted in my ear and said
“No you ain’t going to sleep yet”. I moaned and groaned putting my earphones
on so I couldn't hear a thing.

I sat on the chair hoping for some sleep but we just got to the Auckland
airport. We got our bags and checked in. I was so tired I could sleep on the
floor. We got on the plane because we didn’t have enough time to sit.
“Take your earphones out of your head, I want you to hear me shout at you
so you wake up” yelled nan. We got on the plane and we sat down. I wanted
to sleep but I can't.

I started watching some movies on the tv in the plane and I was watching Toy
Story 4 but I still wanted to sleep very badly. I felt like I could sleep for 1 day
until she said. “You can finally sleep but only until we get to the airport”. I was
so excited My nan thought i was gonna bring the plane down.
I had a sleep for 1 hour and then”get up we’re at the airport!” she yelled.
I woke up and  I shook and wobbled with fear. I stretched and yawned.
I took my seatbelt off and i couldn’t wait till we got to the hotel because
I wanted to sleep. THE END

Why students shouldent have homework

Why students shouldn't have homework Ugh homework Half Of My Energy Wasted On Random Knowledge I mean who likes homework? Do you have homework? I do. Homework is boring and it is so unhealthy. The first reason why I think students shouldn’t have homework is because it can take their mind off school work secondly it is a waste of trees and lastly it is a waste of time. Firstly students shouldn't have homework is because it can take their mind off school work and it can can make you brains more active and calm instead of doing math and writing and alphabetical order. Like that is a lot of work and paper wasted. You could just do reading instead of homework. Because homework means Half Of My Energy Wasted On Random Knowledge. Secondly why I think Students shouldn’t have homework is because it is a waste of paper and trees. I mean where do you think paper comes from the sky. No paper comes from the trees and if we keep getting homework everyday were just wasting more and more trees. So we need to not have homework because our trees are getting cut down more and more and then were just wasting a lot of paper and then once all of our trees are getting cut down then we can’t breath because trees give us oxygen and paper is just a waste of money. And finally why I think students shouldn’t have homework is because it is a waste of time Because you could spend lots of quality time with family and more outdoor time instead of staying inside all day. It’s just like your teacher saying “go home and do more nothing”. Because homework isn’t even school work it's just normal work of doing nothing. So conclusion I think students should not do there homework because it is boring and it is a waste of time.

Quality Blog Comment

Visit to Kawakawa School - 'Nga Rau Rangatira'

This week we visited a class at Kawakawa Primary School.  Here is the link to the blog I wrote a comment on -
We had to make sure that we:

  • Gave a greeting
  • Said something we liked.
  • Make a suggestion.
  • Make a connection.
  • Ask a question.
  • Leave a link to our blog.

I think I achieved most of these.  I just realised I forgot to make a suggestion.

MY PEPEHA

This is my pepeha i don,t have my mum and dads photos Sorry

Heartbroken and Dejected

Heartbroken and Dejected
Bitmoji ImageIt started out like any other normal day obviously. I woke up. I went to school with nan
- she’s a teacher.  I mean who goes to school during the holidays? With a heavy heart,
sighing dejectedly I made my way to the car.  I mean bruh why does my nan have to go
to school in the holidays?

Did you know the new marvel movie is out? I have been waiting for Avengers End Game
to come out for months.  I knew my nan was heading to Kerikeri, so I was trying to be
good by not disturbing her with, ‘what’s this?’ ‘what’s that’...I always ask
questions while she’s working.  Anyway...

Secondly When me my sister and my nan where in kerikeri we went to go to the movies. I never knew we were there. She  what time did the new avengers movie start. I replied to her 3:30. She spoke to me go inside and see how much the tickets are. so I went inside and I saw a sign that the tickets were all sold out. I was so heartbroken and sad i went to the car and said nan the tickets are sold out. my nan replied “ok lets go” I was very sad I nearly cried. But I held my tears in.we then went to some store and guess what. I thought in my mind, noooooooooooo! Why do i have to wait for so long. I spoke to my nan how much longer. She replied it has only been one minute. I replied more like one year. After we went to the stores and got a feed we went home. When we were home I was playing a game guess what it was well it has a o in it and a r. Well the answer is drumroll please. Roblox you thought i was playing fortnite. But no. anaways after I played the game for a few hours I went in my pj's and went to sleep. The end
